about

Once upon a time there was a man who lived on an island in the middle of a vast ocean. For years he was content with his life, however, one day he looked out over the horizon.

"I wonder what could be out there..." He wondered. These thoughts were easily quelled, though, and soon he was back to the life he knew, though the thoughts would always return.

"What could be out there?"
"I've never left the island before..."
"Are there other people like me?"

Inevitably, the man's curiosity got the best of him and he built a boat and set sail.

At first, the task was arduous. He was met with harsh difficulties and life-threatening perils, but he always pressed onwards. He had to see what lay beyond the horizon.

Eventually, the storms stopped. Challenges became easily surmountable. The quest became easy. Soon, he was sailing on smooth waters and had been for—how long had it been?

The man had lost track. Days, months, years, millenia—the man soon realized that he must have passed the edge of the horizon a long time ago. And yet there was only water around him.

Hundreds of years passed. The man became increasingly desperate. There was nothing but water. The ocean was his only company, and it seemed to be mocking him. There was nothing over the horizon, he realized. There never was. The man wanted to die.

He looked over the edge of his boat.

"Perhaps the sea."

The man dove into the water and inhaled deeply.
